Progress Stories

Our new facility opened July 1st! It is no secret that many people are struggling to make it through these hard times. Our goal is to be able to offer personal training sessions and fun classes to those that would not otherwise be able to afford them. When you come to Guiding Fitness, you become part of our family. Here is what some of our "family members" are saying about their experience here:

Not quite sure yet. He has always been overweight.

Why he wants to lose weight

He has helped his family find ways to get healthy. He feels like it is his turn.

What he will to to help others once he's reached his goal

He would love to be able to help guys who are in his situation and stuck in rutts like he is. He would love to be in shape enough at a point teach or help train in a class for people with diabetis.

Fun Facts

His son is currently training for his 1st degree black belt. John wants to eventually be able to train with him.

"Guiding Fitness has been the support system I have needed on my weight loss journey. I have been struggling with weight and medical issues and they have supported me through it all. Goal

To go from 250lbs to at least 180lbs.

Why she wants to lose weight

She is only 21 and has a full life ahead of her. She has always been bigger and would like to lose the weight and become healthier. She wants to go into nursing and be a good example to her future patients.

What she will to to help others once he's reached his goal

She would use what she has learned about eating right and exercise to teach others.

She has lived in California for a year.

"I am so happy with my progress so far. I can't wait to keep seeing the results improving. So far I have lost about 10lbs and 1 pant size! My energy level has gone way up!"

Healthy weight with a BMI around 22 or so.

Why she wants to lose weight

To be a good role model for her 3 kids.

What she will to to help others once he's reached his goal

She wants to go to schools and put together a program that encourages kids to be active.

Fun Facts

She is from Germany and used to play competitive tennis. She would like to play again someday. Her kids are all so cute and swim competitively.

Update (April 2010)

"In a short 7 month timeframe I am now down over 90 pounds. Kacie and her team have been a huge part of my journey. Thanks to all their help I stay motivated and my body has changed in a way I could have not imagined. It is firming up and I am getting stronger every day. With Kacie's encouragement I picked up running. I truly thought I would never be a runner and hated it every step in the beginning. I stuck to it because I saw that it was the best cardio option for my weight loss goal. Now I am looking forward to my runs and even joined the GF gang in the Shamrock race in March and signed up for a couple more races in the next months. Becoming part of the GF family has been the best decision. Thanks to all for your support and encouragement."

"After many years of living with back and neck pain I finally found my way to Guiding Fitness. I tried many options to control pain including acupuncture, physical therapy, massages… you name it… but never considered weight training or physical fitness. I was scared of weight lifting or extreme cardio activity due to a spine de-formality that resulted in 4 lumbar fusions and 5 months of recovery. Tired of being in pain and spending a ton of money with no results, I made the best decision for my health and family. After 7 months of classes and personal training I have never felt better.
